Following a thorough programme of training and development delivered by The Proud Trust, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Rainbow Flag Award, which recognises our commitment to demonstrating positive LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility within a welcoming community and learning environment. The award allowed us to look at key elements such as implementing ‘student and staff voice’ and amending and improving key policies and procedures.

The Rainbow Flag Award's pivotal aspect was engaging with RSFC's exceptional LGBTQIA+ students. Our weekly LGBTQIA+ Society meetings fueled dedicated projects, notably supporting 'Pride In The Park' for the third consecutive year. Students hosted crafting workshops, collected vital visitor surveys, and raised funds for 'Outright International,' aiding LGBTQIA+ individuals displaced in Ukraine. Noteworthy efforts extended to LGBTQIA+ History Month, marked by a captivating 'Behind the Lens' display and a 'chocolate tombola' raising nearly £200 for The Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity that supports young LGBTQIA+ adults who are homeless or at the risk of being made homeless.

Additionally, our involvement in expanding the library, selecting over 30 LGBTQIA+ books, and a bespoke viewing of Touchstones' 'Mischief' art exhibition added to our achievements. The prestigious Rainbow Flag Award is a brilliant acknowledgment, and the students truly deserve a long and deserving bow for their outstanding efforts.
