Biology students recently had the opportunity to take part in two exciting days at Lancaster University, each focusing on a different area of science. One group explored tropical diseases and conservation, while the other delved into biomedicine and pharmacology.

The sessions provided hands-on experience in university laboratories, where students used specialist equipment and took part in engaging workshops designed to deepen their understanding of real-world scientific challenges—one of which involved mapping the changing ecology of coral reefs and analysing the impact of environmental factors on marine life.

Alongside these practical sessions, students also toured the university campus, with many experiencing a university environment for the first time. With the added bonus of beautiful spring sunshine, the event was a fantastic opportunity for all involved, leaving students inspired by the possibilities of future study and careers in science.
