Rochdale Sixth Form College Celebrates 99% Pass Rate and Outstanding Student Success
Rochdale Sixth Form College is celebrating another year of exceptional achievement, boasting a 99% pass rate and a notable increase in high grades. Impressively, 82% of students achieved A*-C grades, allowing many to secure a place at their first-choice university, with around a third gaining admission to the prestigious 'Sutton 30' institutions.
Principal Karl Smith expressed his pride, saying, "Our students and staff are incredible. Witnessing the joy on so many students' faces as they received their results is a privilege and testament to their two years of hard work, supported by our dedicated staff. The outstanding progression of our students highlights the unwavering commitment to social mobility at Rochdale Sixth Form College and the Altus Trust. I am immensely proud of our students, staff, and their remarkable achievements."
Among those celebrating today is former Hollingworth Academy student Janet Alao, who achieved A*A*A*A in Art and Design, Sociology, EPQ, and Mathematics. Janet will be pursuing a degree in Architecture at the University of Cambridge. She shared, "I am thrilled with my results, which have made my dream of attending Cambridge a reality. I want to thank my teachers and Student Performance Development Leader for their support and guidance, which were instrumental in my success."
Additionally, several students secured high-quality apprenticeships and employment across various fields, including Accounting, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Construction. Notably, Armaan Siddique, after a rigorous selection process, will embark on a Level 7 Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship with DWF. He said, "This unique pathway allows me to gain practical experience while earning my degree, which is the perfect route for me. The support from RSFC has been invaluable in securing this incredible opportunity."
Rochdale Sixth Form College was recently awarded the Ofsted 'Outstanding' grade for the second consecutive time. The college, which also earned the 'Sixth Form College of the Year' title by TES in 2021, has been one of the top-performing institutions in the country since it opened its doors in 2010. Ofsted praised the college for creating a "highly purposeful and productive learning environment that enables students to flourish both academically and personally."
This year’s outstanding achievements are a result of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of both students and teachers in their relentless pursuit of academic excellence.
