Film Studies students visit Harry Potter World - student article

On Friday 8 December 2023, RSFC Film Studies students visited The Warner Bros Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter. This was a fun and educational event as we were able to gain insight into the film and media industry, whilst also learning about the artistry, technology and talent that went into creating the Harry Potter series.

The Harry Potter Experience gives visitors a look into one of the most famous film franchises that has been produced in the UK which exhibits the authentic costumes, props and sets used in the production of the Harry Potter films, as well as the behind-the-scenes production of visual effects. During the day, RSFC Film Studies students attended a seminar, where we had the opportunity to see original costumes, along with the actual mood boards used in the preproduction of the films that helped develop characters and personalities, giving us an insight into how every costume relates to its respective character and its history throughout the film franchise.

The visit was of great value to all the students who came along as it was both educational and highly enjoyable. I believe this opportunity was a huge benefit to us, enhancing our knowledge of film with an insight into the industry, while broadening our ideas and thoughts of possible careers in the future.
