Case study

Faye Whiteley – Course Leader of Psychology

I joined RSFC as an NQT in 2016, teaching Psychology. I found the NQT programme robust, inspiring and supportive. I had weekly NQT meetings in which I was able to reflect on my classroom practice and learn the fundamentals of teaching, learning and assessment, enabling my students to secure outstanding results in their A -Levels. Since completing my NQT year, I have had many opportunities to develop my own CPD. For example, I have led NQT sessions on effective intervention and whole staff INSET training on how to develop effective questioning. I have also completed an ILM Level 5 Coaching Qualification, and currently coach colleagues in areas that they wish to develop, guiding them to achieve their professional goals. I was delighted to recently be appointed as Course Leader for Psychology and continue my progressive career at the college. Rochdale Sixth Form College recognise and nurture talent, I feel privileged to be part of such an amazing teaching community, who have the students at the heart of what they do.
