All Year 13 students at Rochdale Sixth Form College engage in our Social Development Programme. The programme is broken down into nine key areas – Literacy & the Arts, Mental Health & Wellbeing, The Environment, Sport & Healthy Lifestyles, Social Media, The Young, The Elderly, Homelessness and Animal Welfare. The Social Development Programme complements our bespoke enrichment programme and is designed for students to develop six essential skills:
- Leadership skills
- Team work skills
- Problem solving
- Presentation skills
- Time management
- Applied numeracy and literacy skills
Students who participate in our ‘Mental Health & Wellbeing’ social development programme recently hosted staff/student lunches to encourage us as a college community to develop relationships. Students arranged music, refreshments and activities for staff and students to come together and share lunch.
The lunch was a real success for both staff and students.
Vanessa Ablott, Assistant Principal said, “It was great for staff and students to come together in this way and it was really impressive to see how well the students organised this wellbeing event”
Rochdale Sixth Form College is the founding institution of the Altus Education Partnership.
