Subject Focus: Music Technology

Music Technology focuses on the equipment and developments that are used by musicians to help them to make music. This is often to do with the performance and recording of music but the possibilities are limitless!

Studying Music Technology at RSFC will build on and develop your current musical knowledge, whilst introducing a range of modern-day production techniques. The course is heavily practical- based and you will spend a lot of time experimenting with and applying recording and production techniques in order to create a portfolio of work, whilst also learning about the context and theory behind the developments and how they were applied in popular music. The subject is both an academic and practical combination; it is widely accepted for university entry onto a range of courses. It is especially useful for students considering a career or undergraduate studies in any of the performing arts, sound engineering or music production.

If you are keen to create and record music, and actively enjoy listening to music in lots of different styles then Music Technology is the course for you!

Subject Focus: Music

Studying Music helps you to extend your knowledge and understanding of a variety of musical styles, genres and forms, whilst also giving you the opportunity to create and develop your own musical ideas and demonstrating and developing your pre-existing skills in performance, interpretation and communication.

Music is a well-regarded academic subject, which is highly regarded by many institutions. It is especially useful for students considering a career or undergraduate studies in any of the performing arts, composition, performance, musical analysis or music teaching.

A significant proportion of students choose Music as something they enjoy, furthering both their hobbies and academic study in lesson time. If you have a passion for performance, or if your interests lie more in writing music or analysing pieces or songs then this is the course for you!

Subject Focus: Modern Languages (French & Spanish)

At RSFC you can choose to study a French or Spanish Modern Languages A-level. You will study the language, grammatical systems, communication, culture and politics of French/Spanish speaking countries. Moving on from GCSE, you will learn how to confidently communicate in written and spoken French/Spanish with a high level of grammatical accuracy.

As well as being useful for students who want to go on to study or work in obviously related areas such as university courses in languages, linguistics and translation, French/ Spanish is also incredibly useful if you want to go into the sciences, the medical and allied healthcare professions, history, the social sciences, caring professions or law.

If you are keen to develop your understanding and fluency of a modern foreign language, and would like to learn more about foreign culture and politics then this may be the course for you!
