Application processed

Once you have applied to Rochdale Sixth Form College (RSFC) your application will be processed and an acknowledgement email and text message will be sent to you. We will also request any outstanding information we need from you.

Interviews normally take place between November and February and may take place here at RSFC (or possibly virtually). You will receive a letter in the post confirming your interview date, time and venue. Parents/carers have the option of attending the interview if they wish. If you cannot attend an interview you must inform us straight away, so we can re-schedule for another date, otherwise your application may be withdrawn.

During the interview students must meet the following criteria:

The student should demonstrate a strong commitment to further study and the ethos of the college.

Students can confirm predicted grades that are likely to meet the minimum college entry requirements as well as any additional subject requirements. Students should bring their latest progress report/mock exam results to the interview. Students should be aware that RSFC staff may discuss predicted grades with their school.

In some cases, we may feel that there are no suitable courses available for the applicant or the applicant will not benefit from our courses and suggest alternative courses elsewhere.

Offers of a place to study at RSFC are made at interview. Offers are conditional on achieving the minimum college entry requirements and any subject specific entry requirements, where applicable, as well as a satisfactory reference from your school which indicates a good record of attendance, punctuality, general behaviour, attitude to learning and aptitude for the proposed courses and any other specific conditions communicated during the interview process.

New student welcome day

All students who have been given a conditional offer will be invited to the New Student Welcome Day in July. Invites will be sent around June via text/email, if you cannot attend you must inform us straight away otherwise your application may be withdrawn. During New Student Welcome Day you will have the opportunity to sample classes from your chosen A Levels and meet some of your teachers.

Enrolment day

Enrolment Day is usually the day after GCSE results have been given out by the schools. You will be given a time to come in to RSFC for your enrolment, you must bring your GCSE results slip from your school. If you cannot attend Enrolment Day please let us know straight away, otherwise your application may be withdrawn. During Enrolment Day there are a number of processes that need completing so you should expect to be at the college for a couple of hours.

Induction day

You will have an Induction Day at the start of the September term. You will be asked to come in during a specific timeslot for your induction which can last approximately an hour and a half. During induction you will pick up your timetable and have a tutorial session with your personal tutor.

Teaching begins

Teaching will begin the day after Induction Day. All students should follow their timetables.
